Italian calfskin, thick outsole, hard-wearing Strobel assembly: We've pulled out all the stops to give you sneakers that go the distance.
For your part, here's what you can do to care for them and maximise their lifespan.
Rule No. 1: Give them a breather
You’ll already know this if you've got leather shoes in your wardrobe: it's not a good idea to wear the same shoes two days in a row. Quite the opposite, we recommend that you let the material breathe by rotating them.
Rule 2: Store them carefully
Put your shoes in a pair of wooden shoe trees so they keep their shape better over time. This way they’ll also absorb moisture and rid your Triple A's of any odours. If you want to do things the right way, cedar wood is great for that.
Rule no. 3: Keep them clean
As you can imagine, this is the most tedious part. The good news is that you don't have to do it every morning. A good clean once a month will do the job.
For your information, it's a 6-step process:
- Quickly dust off your trainers with a soft cloth (eg. microfibre).
- When dry, clean the outsole with a soft brush with fine bristles. The idea here is to remove any dirt in the seams.
- Whip out the laces and work a soft brush over the rest of the shoe (upper, tongue, eyelets, suede inserts).
- Using a soft cloth and a special leather cleaner, rub your Triple A’s in a circular motion to remove any remaining dirt*.
- After that, you can apply a colour-matching shoe polish if you like to moisturise them and help them stay looking at their best*.
- Finally, apply waterproofing spray to protect your hard work and prevent water damage.
- Carefully avoid the suede parts during these steps, only apply to the smooth leather parts.
That's all there is to it. If you follow these golden rules, you should easily double their life expectancy. Taking good care gets you halfway there, or something like that.
Thanks !
