The Linen Suit Jackets from Every Angle
Your suit of enamour
When it came to fabric, we went for the best: French linen, woven by the experts at Leomaster in Italy. They crafted a 275g/m² fabric that’s breathable enough to keep you cool, yet weighty enough for a clean, defined drape. You already know linen is a bit of a wonder material—robust, breathable, antibacterial, hypoallergenic, and sustainable. But here’s what sets this Jacket apart: we’ve kept it unlined for ultimate lightness, allowing you to move effortlessly without restriction. The only exception? The sleeves, which we’ve lined with in viscose to make it easier to slip on and off.
Construction update
It’s no secret that suit jackets are one of the trickiest items to make well. That’s why we teamed up with Conted, a Romanian workshop with over 60 years of tailoring expertise. Unlike the fused constructions you’ll find in most high-street jackets (and a fair few designer ones also) which can feel stiff and boxy, we opted for a half-canvassed construction. That means layers of canvas around the front of the jacket instead of glue—resulting in a more natural fit and greater comfort. Inside, we’ve gone for an extended facing: the interior panels are cut from the same fabric as the body, without a full lining. And to keep things light and fluid, we’ve extended the lining only up to the armholes—just enough for a tidy look and maximum comfort. At the back, we’ve added two vents. Handy whether you’re hopping on your bike or sitting through someone drone on.
The right cut
We took your feedback and ran with it. Based on your co-creation feedback, we’ve tailored a fit that’s neat but not restrictive— clean, structured, well-proportioned but with room to move. To enhance the silhouette, we’ve added darts at the waist and back, subtly shaping the jacket so it sits just right.
A couple of useful details:
- Need to customise the fit, more fitted or looser? No problem—this Jacket is designed to be easily altered.
- Sizing note: We’ve reworked our suiting pattern for this item, so if you already own one of our Asphalte suit jackets, you may want to size down for the Linen Jacket. The trousers, however, remain unchanged.
High neckline
The neckline is the heart of any suit jacket, so we cut ours with precision. We went for generous notched lapels (8 cm, for the detail-oriented among you) with clean, balanced lines. A subtle but crucial detail? The gorge line—the seam where the lapel meets the collar—runs parallel to the shoulder, adding structure and visual harmony. There’s also a collar roll insert to ensure it sits perfectly on your shoulders. It’s a small layer of felt that keeps everything in place, rounding out those refined finishing touches.
The express shoulder
Getting the shoulder line right was no easy task. It’s one of the most defining features of a jacket, and we wanted it just so. We steered clear of extremes—neither too sharp and rigid, nor too soft and slouchy. Instead, we developed a lightly structured shoulder with a few layers of felt to bring shape while avoiding any rigidity. The result? A natural, effortless look that’s far from austere. Right on for summer.
6 pockets to serve you
The Linen Jacket doesn’t just look good—it’s practical too. With six pockets in total, it’s got space for everything you need.
- Outside: Two double welt pockets at the waist, plus a breast pocket (a.k.a. the ‘handkerchief pocket’—for those who like a flourish).
- Inside: Two welt pockets on one side (one perfectly sized for your phone), and a buttoned pocket with a triangular flap on the other.
Of course, each pocket is lined in sturdy cotton, because the little details matter.
A word about care
Keeping your Linen Jacket in top shape? Just take it to the dry cleaners once a year and let it hibernate through the winter. Easy as.
Suit up
That was a lot of detail, but we wanted to lay it all out for you. The takeaway? This Linen Jacket is a masterclass in craftsmanship, packed with passion and precision. Whether worn as a full suit or as separates, it’ll keep you looking sharp and feeling cool all summer long. So, what do you reckon?
