FROM SOUTH AFRICA WITH LOVE
Just as pizza-making is all about the flour, peacoat-craftin’ is all about the wool. Ours is made from 100% virgin wool from South Africa. Not only does it have that luxurious texture you’d expect from high-class wool, but it holds its shape really well too. There’s a reason expertly made wool jackets from 50 years ago are still going strong.
ALL THRILL, NO PILL
You told us you were tired of peacoats that bobbled, so we made sure our wool was up to scratch. On the all-important Martindale rub test, it scored an impressive four out of five for pilling. This basically means it’ll keep that luxurious lustre for longer.
BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES
Even for those who don’t intend to wear our Peacoat whilst practising their hitch-knots in the middle of the Atlantic keeping the breeze at bay is important. That’s why we’ve used that throat-tab collar—just the thing to keep your neck nice and toasty when a storm’s a brewin’.
A CUT ABOVE
We gave our Peacoat a tailored fit. It’s sharp, but there’s still room to breathe, and you’ll have no problem getting a thick sweater under there come winter. We added a vent to the back too for a bit of extra movement, and there are no shoulder pads - meaning lots of give up top.
AT THE DOUBLE
That trademark double-breasted design was originally devised so the peacoat could be buttoned either direction, depending on which way the wind was blowing. Modern needs let us do away with this detail but we nevertheless kept the look and the nice row of buttons.
SERIOUSLY SLICK
Because our wool is already nice and thick, a full lining would be overkill. Instead, we just added a bit of recycled polyester to the inside of the sleeves and the shoulders so you can slip it on in record time. No worries about your jumpers bunching at the elbows here.
HANDY HAULAGE
What good would a coat be without a few sizeable pockets for stashing those valuables in? Our Peacoat has two slanted pockets down the front, each with its own direct access to press-stud-secured inside pockets. No need to unbutton in a gale to find the car keys now.
BIG OL’ BUTTONS
Even the surliest sailor has been known to shed a tear over broken buttons, so we made ours from hard-wearing horn and ultra-tough corozo. No little anchor logos needed for the show-stoppers down the front - these are all work, no fads.
FORM AND FUNCTION
Perhaps one of the reasons the peacoat has endured for so long is because of how versatile it is. One minute it’s functional, and the next, it’s formal, meaning it goes just as well with beat-up denim as it does over a suit. As far as versatility goes - it’s a high-ranking number.
