Pushing the boundaries of effortless style
A stylish summer essential
If summer were a shirt, this would be this shirt. The Popover is your ultimate warm-weather wingman—smart yet laid-back, relaxed but never scruffy, effortlessly nonchalant. Think Riviera charm in fabric form.
100% French linen
Linen has been France’s pride and joy for centuries, and for good reason. This natural fibre isn’t just breathable—it’s strong, comfy, insulating, antibacterial, hypoallergenic, easy to care for, and gets softer with every wash. Basically, it’s the unsung hero of summer fabrics. Until now.
Light and breezy, not see-through
We’ve woven this French linen in a classic warp-and-weft — nothing groundbreaking there. But thanks to linen’s natural grain, it’s unique texture provides tiny gaps to keep you ventilated and feeling cool. Breezy yes, revealing not. No need to worry about transparency with this shirt, we’ve got the weight just right.
Room to breathe (but not too much)
A summer staple should have a bit of give, so we’ve gone for a generous straight cut. You’ll have room to move freely, which is crucial once the mercury starts nudging upwards. But don’t expect a billowing tent—this is a well-balanced cut that keeps things sharp.
A collar with character
The half-button placket is what makes a Popover Shirt a Popover Shirt—it slips on over your head in a flash. But getting it just right, that took time. We fine-tuned every detail: the collar height, placket depth, and button spacing. The result? Four bio-sourced cross-stitched buttons, a crisp 6.7 cm sharp American collar point, and just the right amount of structure. A perfectly balanced result, down to the very last millimetre.
A breast pocket, because why not?
We debated adding a chest pocket, but in the end, it just looked better with one. Sure, you might only stash a parking ticket or a fiver for an ice cream, but it adds a bit of visual structure nonetheless.
Details matter
Clean, simple hem? Check. Topstitching in all the right places? Check. Tear-proof vents at the cuffs*, side vents for extra movement, and a touch of interfacing on the collar to keep it looking sharp? As always, we’ve sweated long and hard over every detail because that’s what elevates a shirt and makes it last.
*This technique neatly encloses the raw edges of the vent with a bias strip, making it look better and last longer.
Easy care
Keeping it fresh is a doddle—just chuck it in the wash inside out at 30°C with a spin cycle set to 600 or 800 rpm tops. Linen does crease, so if you want a sharper look, give it a quick iron (but keep it under 150°C). If you’ve got a spare cloth to place between the fabric and your iron, even better.
Pop quiz
We poured a lot of love (and linen) into this Popover Shirt so it carries you from spring’s first shoots to autumn’s last golden rays. Apologies for that last bit, but you get what we mean. We love its laid-back elegance, its knack for pulling an outfit together, and the way it just works. With its natural charm and top-notch fabric, it’s a no-brainer. The only real risk? Missing out.
