Care Guide for the Heavy Chinos

As you can imagine, no heavy care needed here.

The heavy stuff first

We made these so you could wear them in every season. But every spin in the wash means a stressful time for your Chinos, so best not to bung them in the machine every other day. You can leave them to air out al fresco every now and then.

Washing them

Nothing too complicated here: The Heavy Chinos can be machine-washed at 30°C, preferably inside out and with similar colours. The cotton/elastane fabric is tough and won't budge one bit. To be on the safe side, set the spin speed to max. 600 rpm to avoid putting too much strain on the fabric. If you have an organic detergent on hand, that's even better.

PS: even though there's only 3% elastane in this fabric, it's best to place your Chinos in a washing net to avoid polluting the water with the microplastics contained in synthetic fibres. These from Guppyfriend are really excellent. Alternatively, you can fit your washing machine with a filter. A sustainable investment!

Drying them

Lay them flat preferably, but you can also hang it up by the legs to even out the creases as they dry. But most importantly stay clear of the tumble dryer.

Ironing them

If you want to iron your Heavy Chinos to dress up (or just for fun), that’s fine. To avoid damaging the elastane and keeping that stretch at its best, we simply advise you to go easy on the temperature. Go for a 150°C setting and place a small layer of fabric between the plate and the chinos to avoid scorching the fabric.

FYI, OUR HEAVY CHINOS AND THE PLANET

Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Heavy Chinos:

  • They’re not recyclable because of the blend of materials in the fabric. If you stop wearing them for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
  • The Heavy Chinos contain microplastic. Those that come from the 3% elastane, a fibre we couldn't do without here to enhance your comfort. As said above, you can minimise the spread of these microplastics by using a washing net or a special filter for your machine during the wash. To find out more, read this article on protecting the oceans.
  • They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
  • They do not contain any recycled materials. We try and incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Heavy Chinos.
