Care Guide for the New Shorts

To all your New Shorts owners. We can say it enough: what a wise choice treating your legs to these. You've bought yourself a great partner for summer, and the idea is to make it last for many more.

For our part, we've pulled out all the stops to give them the best possible life expectancy but don't underestimate your part in taking care of them. The bottom line is this: the more you take care of it, the longer you'll keep them.

Here's how.

Washing them

While walking around with ketchup stains on your shorts will never be a thing in our book, but we do have a tendency to wash our clothes after a few wears only. And that's not good for anyone.

That's why we recommend washing your New Shorts every 10-15 wears, if not more. If you air them for a few hours in between every wear, we assure you you won't notice any difference (except in terms of your water bill and carbon footprint).

When the time comes though, it’s quite easy: A quick spin in the wash at 30°C with a 600 rpm spin cycle.

When it comes to washing powder, our advice is always the same: aim for liquid and natural, and preferably both at the same time.

Drying them

We can't stress this enough: tumble dryers are a no-go. We're lucky that air-drying works just a well and it’s free, it just requires a little patience, but you’ve proven you had that in good measure.

So just lay your New Shorts al fresco, out of direct sunlight for 3 or 4 hours tops.

You can also iron them, just make sure not to go over 150°C to avoid damaging the fabric.

FYI, OUR NEW SHORTS AND THE PLANET

Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our New Shorts:

  • They’re 100% recyclable which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. If you stop wearing them for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
  • Unlike many garments that release microplastics during washing, our New Shorts have been designed not to do so. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
  • They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
  • They do not contain any recycled materials. We try and incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the New Shorts.

Thanks!
