We don’t expect you to pamper your backpack every day. In real life, it's more the kind of thing that gets kicked around, that we leave lying around, that spends half its life in the air and the other half face down, and that we wash less often than your regular pair of jeans. That’s par for the course in the life of a backpack.
When we created the Ultimate Backpack, we knew it wouldn't necessarily get the royal treatment, and that's only to be expected. This bag is designed to carry items from A to B with maximum style and reliability, not to shine like the bonnet of a Ferrari SF90 Stradale at the Motor Show. So you can be sure that your Ultimate Backpack won't be crying out for a bubble bath with sea salt and essential oil every Sunday.
When it comes down to it, there's only one golden rule to follow to maximise the life of your new backpack.
The golden rule for maximising the life of your new Bag
Ready for it?
Well, what we're asking you to do is simply to regularly scrub off any dirt that might try to invite itself on the canvas fabric. Pollution, dust, pollen and all that sort of thing tend to linger on the surface and end up damaging the fibres over time.
From time to time, arm yourself with the brush you use to clean your canvas shoes and scrub your bag to remove the dirt. That's all there is to it.
If there's a stain, a clean sponge and soapy water should do the trick. But please don't put it in the washing machine or tumble dryer or iron it. As well as removing the water-repellent coat, this would ruin its shape and do it more harm than good.
FYI, OUR ULTIMATE BACKPACKS ARE SOFT ON YOU AND THE PLANET
Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Ultimate Backpacks:
- They’re 100% recyclable after being dismantled, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. If you stop wearing them for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
- No microplastics are released during washing. Unlike many garments, our 100% organic cotton Ultimate Backpacks have been designed to not release any microplastics. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that are released when worn or washed and have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
- They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
- They do not contain any recycled materials. We try to incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Ultimate Backpack.
Thanks!
