Unlike your usual flutter, this is an actual investment - and one you won't regret.
With one foot in tradition and the other planted in the present, this jacket promises a perfect balance of heritage and modernity. Made from thick organic cotton Moleskin and manufactured in Bulgaria by experienced craftsmen, it will be with you for a great many years.
Just how many years depends on how you care for it. Here we go.
Let the pros do their job
Without question, the best thing to do is take your Moleskin Jacket to the dry cleaners and let them take care of it.
We know it hits the budget, but it's the best way to ensure the best value for money over time. A good dry clean once or twice a year will do it a world of good, and you'll get it back refreshed and primed for the next shift.
Friendly tip: check your clothes before you leave the dry cleaners. If anything has been damaged in the cleaning process you’ll need to let them know before you physically leave the shop. If not you may have a hard time with any claim.
As for the rest, the usual instructions apply:
- always put it on a wooden hanger when it's not in use
- wear a bib when spag bog’s in play
- put it in a protective cover in spring and summer
- don’t wear it inside out, even if the tartan lining is a thing of beauty
Watch out for the weather
If you’re happy singing in the rain we’re more than ok with that. However, we don't recommend doing so with your Moleskine jacket over your shoulders since it's made from pure cotton and has not received any water-repellent treatment.
The fabric is lightly emerised (understand coated) on the surface, which gives it some water-repellency, but it’s by no means waterproof. It’ll easily withstand a little light rain, but we advise you to take shelter in case of medium or heavy weather.
As for waterproofing sprays for textiles, we don't think they're the best thing since sliced bread, far from it. As the material surface is brushed, it risks creating little bundles of fibres and turning you and your jacket into Sonic the Hedgehog lookalikes.
FYI, OUR MOLESKIN JACKETS ARE SOFT ON YOU AND THE PLANET
Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Moleskin Jacket:
- They’re 100% recyclable after being dismantled, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. If you stop wearing them for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
- No microplastics are released during washing. Unlike many garments, our Moleskin Jackets have been designed to not release any microplastics. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that are released when worn or washed and have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
- They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
- They do not contain any recycled materials. We try to incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Moleskin Jacket.
Thanks!
