Since its birth in the souks of 1940s Cairo, via its countercultural coming of age in 1960s Kingston and its decades-long reign in the indie hall of fame, the boot has long been the go-to shoe for anyone wanting lo-fi comfort paired with perfectly laid back style. We sourced flawless materials and expert craftspeople, then upped the durability a few notches. You know us.
Uptown top-ranking leather
The ultra-simple design of the boot leaves that expanse of characterful suede to do the talking, so naturally, we went to town on the leather for these. We used top-end Italian hide, tanned and finished in Spain by the leather legends at Hijos de Juan Martinez. The result? A hardy, calfskin split leather with a spotless suede finish.
Not build on Sand
When British soldiers first asked Egyptian shoemakers to knock up some slipper-like shoes that would keep their overworked feet happy, comfort was top of their wish list. The reversed leather uppers, stitched directly downward into the sole married simplicity to ruggedness, offering weary feet some much-needed relief from the hobnailed army-issue boots of the day. We don’t let clichés guide our designs too often, but: if it’s not broke, don’t fix it.
Crepe’s the key
Made by pressurising and heating stacked layers of rubber, crepe soles are at the heart of the boot’s comfort, as well as its nonconformist swagger. The material’s totally airtight, unlike most shoe sole materials, making it a great insulator — which, for those non-science people out there means it’ll be keeping your toes warm when the temperature drops. Unsurprisingly, soft, layered-up rubber’s also nice and flexible.
True to form
You’d be forgiven for thinking a design as simple as the boot’s would be easy to get right, but you’d be wrong. Just look at all the skew-whiff attempts out there: bulging toes, over-thickened soles, mid-ankle shortcomings… The trick’s in staying true to the style’s timeless lines, studying its history and poring over the archives. Luckily, that’s just the sort of assignment we like.
Chilled, not slouched
Artfully tiptoeing the line between smart and casual is the boot’s forte. But too often substandard knock-offs go from chilled, to slouched to, well… the bin. To ensure ours keep their shape we gave that hard-wearing Italian leather a little extra help, with a triple-stitched insert running up the heel.
Easy-going footwear
What do British army khakis, Brit pop denim and dancehall combats have in common? Well, apart from being trousers, not much you might think… But they all look spot on with a pair of boots. As far as fretting about pairing goes, boots give you a day off. Jeans, slacks, joggers, shorts - just lob a dart into the wardrobe and go with whatever you hit.
Mid-season workwear
The Comfortable Boot’s not just ready for anything in your wardrobe, it’s ready for all but the worst weather, too. Needless to say — given their lineage — they’ll be happy as Larry on a hot holiday yomp, but they’ll also stand up to the odd shower and unpleasant temperature drops. We even waxed the flat, cotton laces, to make sure they can keep up with some heavy rotation through autumn. True workhorses putting in a shift from spring to autumn.

So there you have it. The Comfortable Boots is an all-time classic. One that’s straddled cultures and served idols from Hollywood to Portmore without ever going out of style. “All” we had to do to honour the legacy, was source the best materials we could find, work in some of that Asphalte durability we’re known for and wham-bam: the Comfortable Boots were done.

We deliver worldwide. For orders in selected European countries* including the UK, we charge a flat fee of 9€ irrespective of how many pieces of the same item you order. For deliveries in the rest of Europe and outside of the EU, the cost is 15€.
Easy to change sizes
If you get the wrong size, fear not, we accept returns and exchanges. For orders in Europe these are free, and for countries, in the rest of the world we ask you to pay the return and we will take care of the cost of sending out an exchange.
