The Fresco Suit
The suit that keeps it fresh
Suited and Booted. These are the issues you had with other summer suits:
1
The fabric wasn’t breathable
2
They creased too easily
3
The fit wasn’t great
4
They didn’t age well
Light suit. Heavy engineering. Great fit.
More A+ than BAAA
We start off with 100% Merino wool. It’s the softest of wools and one that’s super breathable - ideal for you, ideal for summer. Merino’s natural elasticity allows the jacket to drape to perfection. We're off to a good start.
Let's twist again
The fabric comes from Hardy Minnis, the chaps who’ve supplied cloth to The Royal Household since the 1930s. Needless to say, they know a thing or two about weaving. Those top-quality Merino wool fibres are twisted tightly, 100s of times, in pairs. The result: fresco, a material that's durable, allows maximum ventilation and hardly creases.
Cut to fit
We send this quality fabric over to our manufacturing partner Crialme in Portugal, the same lot who mastered our Business Suit. The jacket is designed for an easy feel. It's fitted, but you’ll have enough room to move about in it. To give it a supple and relaxed structure we went for a Neapolitan shoulder. Prego! When it comes to the trousers, we opted for a tapered leg that sits just right on the calves, without being too tight on the thighs.
Fine-tune it your end
When it comes to the trousers, we opted for a tapered leg that sits just right on the calves, without being too tight on the thighs. The inside leg measures 92cm and the trousers are delivered unhemmed, so you can choose the length and style of hem you want at your local alterations hotspot (aka your dry cleaners). We've kept the jacket’s buttonholes closed for easy alterations too. Button tab side adjusters mean you can wear your trousers without a belt. Just to be safe, we provided belt loops too. They’re your trousers, make them work for you.
Dress up, dress down
This might be a suit, but don’t let us tell you how to wear it. Pair the trim but relaxed trousers with a T-shirt for that wedding-after-party-on-the-Med feel. Maybe wear the jacket with jeans, or chinos... Why not football shorts? OK, that may be a pairing too far, don’t do that. There have to be some rules.
Deep dive
We designed the jacket with deep patch pockets which, unlike most suit pockets, actually accommodate things bigger than a mouse’s hanky. The trouser’s thigh pockets are tough: lined with a strong viscose and, just like their cousins up above, they’re deep enough to be of actual use. The discrete back pockets are jetted for an elegant finish. Elegance and functionality, not a bad combination.
The case for travel
You remember that intensive twisting of the yarns into the fresco we mentioned earlier? Well, that makes it super resilient and crease-resistant which means that when you get where you are going, you won’t arrive looking like you have been sat on for half a day, which we always think is a bonus.
Facing America, with a perfect drape
A half-canvas construction with an American facing. ‘What's that all about?’, you might be asking yourself. Well, it's lighter than a classic facing and gives the jacket an impeccable drape. Just what you need to get the most out of that Neapolitan shoulder.
It's all in the detail
The buttons on both the jacket and trousers are made of natural horn, in a light brown shade, creating a neat but unobtrusive contrast point. For the trousers, we went for a solid YKK zipper and 100% viscose lining. It's natural, it's soft, it does the job. There’s no point having a great-looking suit if the little details let you down.
