Working through the ages
A respectable hunting trophy
Inspired by French hunting jackets of the 19th and 20th centuries, the Moleskin Jacket firmly has one foot in tradition and the other in the modern era. Our version blends its ample heritage with fresh, everyday practicality.
Organic Cotton Moleskin
Unlike waxed and oiled jackets favoured in the UK, France has traditionally championed moleskin—an indestructible, satin fabric developed in the 17th century. Initially developed for bookbinding, it became favoured for its warmth, durability. Hence why hunters were into them. Staying true to its origins, we’ve crafted our jacket from 100% organic cotton moleskin.
Glorious Saddle Collar
The evolution of the hunting jacket during the Industrial Revolution saw the rise of its signature saddle collar. A mix of form and function, this collar stands upright to guard against the wind. We've enhanced ours with soft French cord, adding a touch of sophistication and comfort. We couldn’t resist doing the same to the cuffs and flaps to balance it all out.
A Contemporary Cut
Staying true to our modernised vintage mantra, we designed the Moleskin Jacket with a tidy cut fit for today, and tomorrow. Gone are the oversized dimensions meant to go over hunting gear. At least we assume you’re scanning the high street for wild boar. In their place, you’ll just have the right freedom of movement to swing open the boot of your car with ease.
A Raglan by the Book
To double down on the unrestricted movement theme, we’ve opted for raglan sleeves. Unlike standard shoulder seams, this extends the sleeve to the neckline, giving you unmatched comfort and a full range of motion. You may not be on the lookout for boar, but if one found you at least you’d have a fighting chance.
A Quintet of Pockets
The lucky wearer has five practical pockets to choose from. Four on the outside, including two handsome gusseted hip pockets and a couple of chest pockets. Plus an inside pocket secured by a press stud for your pork scratchings. That way you won’t disturb the many boars roaming Basildon.
Double the Stakes
The Moleskin Jacket is as refined inside as it is out. A tartan-patterned 100% cotton lining adds a touch of flair, while viscose-lined sleeves ensure a smooth on-and-off action. It’s almost a shame it’s not reversible.
It’s Solid
Manufactured by Pelintex in Bulgaria, this jacket is well made, to say the least. Cord detailing, metal hardware, reinforced seams, and a robust zip reflect our commitment to quality and durability.
A Piece of History
Though designed for hunting, as you probably know by now, the Moleskin Jacket has transcended its origins. Our modern interpretation is a stylish take on a classic, perfect for city life. It’s a slice of history, and one we’re really proud of.
