Basket compte Triple
Three-letter Sneakers
Two years of work, months of co-creation, a collaboration with a sneakers specialist, a host of prototypes and long weeks of intensive testing - that's what it took to develop our Triple A Sneakers. And yet, the initial plan didn’t seem that complicated. To get back to basics with a pair of comfortable, hard-wearing shoes. Nothing more, nothing less.
As fine as their wine
Going over your answers to our co-creation questionnaires, it didn’t take a genius to realise that there are a lot of shoddy trainers out there. So we adorned the Triple As with top-quality Italian cowhide leathers, renowned for their suppleness and durability. To be precise, the smooth leathers come from Poletto and the suedes from Mastrotto, two Italian institutions as well known as Brunello.
They've got a lot going for them
The outsole is to a sneaker what a tyre is to a car: the only point of contact with the ground. So if you’re going to stand any chance of achieving any form of durability, you’ve got to get this bit right. A thickly moulded thermoplastic elastomer will do just this. Our outsoles can not only eat up the miles but also promise exceptional cushioning and ultimate walking comfort. They're 3 cm thick, so don't worry about them. You'll stop walking long before they do.
Foolproof Strobel assembly
If the majority of sneakers on the market start coming apart before the year’s out, it's because their soles are only glued to the upper. While we still glue them here, we importantly also stitch them together. One hardy thread between the upper and the insole, and another just as tough between the upper and the outsole. This is known as ‘Strobel’ method, named after the German boffin who invented this special sewing machine. We also double and even triple topstitch the main stress points for good measure. All this wizardry is expertly carried out by the good people at Rilix in Portugal. Your shoes are in safe hands.
Would your feet like a cushion?
It the Triple A Sneakers are so comfortable it’s also because they are underpinned with an ultra-soft mesh-lined foam. This ensures a great hold for guaranteed comfort right from the first time you wear them.
Removable insole
Rummage around inside and you'll find an insole crafted in the same mesh-lined foam to cushion the arch of your foot. As good as it is, you can also remove it if you need to switch it up for any reason. Practical.
As it says on the tin
The Triple A logo that sits proudly on the label was designed by Clément Johanet, especially for this product. Inspired by Asphalte's visual identity viewed through an 80s prism, it reflects everything that has motivated us since Day 1. A love of vintage, respect for designs that have stood the test of time and a desire to create the classics of tomorrow.
A word about care
Variety is the key to longevity. Your health, your clothes, your shoes. Giving leather a breather between each wear helps it age better, and wooden shoe trees will help your sneakers keep their shape. When it comes to cleaning, follow the care guide to keep them looking their best.
Just a great pair of trainers
Developing the Triple As was a lesson in keeping things simple, and how that can actually be much more challenging than complicating things. What we wanted, what you wanted, was just an excellent pair of sneakers. Sneakers that look good, last for ages, are as comfortable as your grandpa’s slippers and don’t cost a fortune. It was no mean feat, but we did it. Italian leathers, solid construction in Portugal, a technical lining, an amazingly cushioned sole, with a quality/price ratio you won't find anywhere else. The Triple As are just an exceptional pair of trainers.
