Before your put them in the wash, here are a few precautions to look out for:
- Undo the zip and buttons to avoid any unnecessary tension points
- Turn them inside out
- Wash with similar colours, particularly for the first three washes when the dye can still bleed a tad and make sure the wash program finishes on a max. 800rpm spin cycle to get rid of excess water. Don't go any higher, it won't speed anything up and it could risk damaging the cotton.
Then start your classic wash cycle at 30°C with a liquid detergent.
Leave them hanging dry
Once washed, dry your Cargo Shorts away from direct sunlight as this tends to speed up the fading process. You can lay them flat or hang them up by their hem, it's up to you. If you like, give it a gentle press with the iron at no more than 110°c. Do it before it's completely dry to make life easier! While you're waiting to wear it, all you have to do is store it on a wooden hanger.
Prevention is better than cure
Even if these shorts are simply indestructible, it's better to be safe than sorry. That's why we recommend that you frequently check the stress points on the shorts: crotch, side seams on the thighs, pocket bag, etc. It will be much easier to have then strengthen by your alteration specialists than to have them done once there’s a tear.
OUR CARGO SHORTS AND THE PLANET
Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Cargo Shorts:
- They’re 100% recyclable after being dismantled, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. If you stop wearing them for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
- No microplastics are released during washing. Unlike many garments, our Cargo Shorts have been designed to not release any microplastics. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that are released when worn or washed and have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
- They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
- They do not contain any recycled materials. We try to incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Cargo Shorts. The reason is that when you recycle a fibre, you shorten it. So if we can't find recycled fibres long enough to ensure the garment’s durability, we prefer to go for slightly longer fibres.
