Care Guide for the Classic Shirt

Here are a few tips to make sure you can keep your shirt looking its best.

WASHING

You can machine wash the shirt at a max 30°C, with similar colours finishing off with a rinse cycle at no more than 800 rpm. To do things even better, use a laundry net to protect the fabric from any damage, pointy zips or the machine drum. It works great on your shirt and you can use it for any synthetic garments you have and avoid microplastics getting into the waterways.

DRYING

You probably already know this, but just in case, tumble dryers are a no-go. It would end up damaging the cotton fibres when you can simply get the same result by air-drying it on a large wooden hanger in a well-ventilated room and away from direct sunlight. The job should be done in a matter of hours.

IRONING

Thanks to the two-ply twist, you only need to give your Classic Shirt a quick blast on low heat (max 110˚C) when still a little damp to the touch will do the job.

Getting rid of those pit stains

White shirts will tend to get yellowy patches over time, whether it’s due to deodorant components or sweat, you still want to get the washed out: Here are. few tips to do so:

  • Option 1 (light stains): rub the area with some good old natural soap. Simple as.
  • Option 2 (bigger stains): soak your shirt in a bowl of lukewarm water with 2 tablespoons of baking soda for a few hours, before you put it in the wash.
  • Option 3 (stubborn stains): add some washing soda crystals into a bowl with 1 litre of water. Soak your shirt in the mix for a few minutes before rinsing it with tap water.

As a rule, tend to avoid aluminium-based deodorants as they are usually the culprit for these stains (on top of the health hazard they represent).

OUR CLASSIC SHIRTS AND THE PLANET

Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Classic Shirts:

  • They’re 100% recyclable after being dismantled, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. If you stop wearing them for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
  • No microplastics are released during washing. Unlike many garments, our Classic Shirts have been designed to not release any microplastics. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that are released when worn or washed and have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
  • They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
  • They do not contain any recycled materials. We try to incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Classic Shirt.
