Care Guide for the Cuban Collar Shirt

Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to be a fan of Legendario rum or Bolivar cigars to wear a Cuban Collar Shirt. On the other hand, it can be useful to have these tips in mind to look after it as well as possible and make it last a lifetime.

Washing it is easy

Whenever you feel it's necessary - or after the traditional sticky mojito accident - you can put your shirt in the washing machine inside out to protect the colours. We recommend a 30°C programme with a moderate spin (800 rpm max). For washing powder, liquid and organic if possible.

Drying it is even easier

Put your shirt on a large wooden hanger and let it air dry in a well-ventilated area, avoiding direct sunlight if you can.

Ironing’s the easiest

Start with the sleeves, move on to the back and finish with the two front panels, all on your iron's "cotton" setting at 150°C max. And that's it.

FYI, OUR CUBAN COLLAR SHIRT IS SOFT ON YOU AND THE PLANET

Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Cuban Collar Shirts:

  • They cotton version is 100% recyclable, and the cotton-tencel blend version is recyclable after separating the fibres. This means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled (following a mechanical process for the Beige, Green and Burgundy versions). However, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. By giving rather than selling, you're contributing to a virtuous cycle and helping those who need it most.
  • Unlike many garments that release microplastics during washing, our Cuban Collar Shirts have been designed not to do so. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
  • They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
  • They do not contain any recycled materials. We try and incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Cuban Collar Shirt.
