A Winter Suit that suits your needs, specifically one that avoids these issues:

The cut isn’t flattering.
3
It doesn’t hold its shape.
4
The colours are uninspiring.
Have we ever let you down?
Keeping it in the family
Leichtfried – the Austrian wool specialists we entrusted with making the flannel for our Winter Suit – has been in the family for four generations now. All that wisdom and experience is right there in the phenomenal fabrics they produce.
Due diligence
Not only are the Leichtfried lot serious about top-notch fabrics, they’re also serious about traceability. They source 100% of their wool from traceable farms, so they can be very particular about the standards of their suppliers. Did we mention that this particular merino flannel is completely mulesing-free?
Keep it clean
Fabric processing can be a dirty business, but not at Leichtfried HQ. Their wool is finished cleanly, and the wastewater treated and reused. They’ve thought of everything!
Strong and stable
Stability – couldn’t we all do with a bit more of it? The last thing you want is your clothes stretching out, warping, or changing shape. The flannel we’ve used here has been stabilised by being pre-shrunk by up to 30%. This also makes the cloth denser and warmer.
Stop right there
Wool and rain don’t always mix, but this is the exception. The flannel has a special Aquastop treatment that makes it water repellent, so should you be caught without a brolly, it’s not going to ruin your day.
The shape of things to come
The jacket of the Winter Suit has a half-canvas, which basically means that from the shoulder seam down to the waist, a layer of canvas is stitched inside. This is an old tailoring technique to give the jacket some shape.
Make mine a Neapolitan
Speaking of the shoulder, we’ve gone for a Neapolitan style here. Neapolitan tailoring is instantly recognisable by the soft, lightly padded shoulder that’s frequently used. What this does is add shape, while maintaining a natural line so you’re not mistaken for an ‘80s throwback.
How do you say ‘pocket’ in Italian?
Italian shoulders – what next, Italian pockets?! Well, yes actually. The trouser pockets, which are finished with a neat welt, are made from premium Italian cotton. No more loose change escaping down your trouser leg.
Precision engineering
When it came to making the Winter Suit a reality, we enlisted the help of the crew over at Crialme in Portugal. This lot know a thing or two about cooking up snappy suits, and they’ve even been considerate enough to leave plenty of extra fabric inside the trousers and jacket sleeves, to make alterations nice and easy.
Extra alterations
Your trousers will arrive unhemmed measuring 92cm. We’ve made them nice and long so you can decide whether cuff or no cuff. It’s as you wish. Some people call cuffs ‘turn-ups’. That’s up to you too.
The Winter Suit Sleeve
We've worked on a premium 100% organic cotton sleeve for your Winter Suit. It's smart, durable, and you can even machine wash it. You can add it at checkout for 25€. A fair price for your very own peace of mind, wouldn't you agree?
Suits you, sir

The Team
Asphalte began life back in 2016, just four people with a bit of experience in fashion and a simple enough aim: making good quality clothes in a low-impact way. Things started off smoothly enough, and we were picking up a bit of momentum, but something was missing. The idea for Asphalte didn’t really come together until we got our pals on the blower and asked them, ‘Hey, what do you want us to make?’ We didn’t realise it at the time, but this was the turning point. If Asphalte were a scientific discovery, this would be called the ‘eureka!’ moment. If it were a comic book, this was the part where we get bitten by a radioactive spider.
It might not seem like a revolutionary idea. That’s because it isn’t, really. But fast forward 5 years and asking our friends what they wanted has turned into sending you lot our biannual questionnaires, and using your feedback to determine what we release. And that’s our secret weapon. It’s how we make what you want for a good price, and keep waste to a minimum.
Today our team is a bit bigger than four people. In fact, there are 64 of us now. We used to be based in Paris, but now we’ve moved out to greener pastures down in Bordeaux. Besides that, we’re still working in much the same way as when we first started, with the same ideas about quality, sustainability and our customers leading the way.
