Nothing to hide
When you can pick up a pair of shorts on the high street for 19.99€, you’re forgiven for raising an eyebrow at 89€ on preorder. Sounds a bit steep, right? But here’s the thing, there’s a cost to doing everything properly. When you work with top-notch European materials and skilled craftsmanship, you get a completely different product. Let’s take a look at what this all means.
Getting started
The first (and arguably most crucial) step? Picking the right fabric. Think of it like a Michelin-starred meal—you don’t get a dish to remember with subpar ingredients. Same with these shorts. We’ve gone for premium organic cotton that will hold its shape, keep its colour and not start faltering before summer’s even finished. Long story short: it’s top-quality, looks great and yes, is organic.
A Weave that speaks for itself
260g/m² isn’t some random number we plucked out of thin air. It’s a sweet spot that took months of testing to establish. It’s durable and sturdy enough to drape beautifully, yet light enough to keep you cool when it really starts to bake out there. We entrusted the weaving of TBM and Olimpias in Italy, two textile powerhouses that master this sort of thing. The result? A robust yet supple twill that makes you go, ahh, now that’s quality, the second you touch it.
Tailoring: precision matters
A lot of brands come a cropper when it comes to the quality of make. Big time. You know what it’s like. A button pings off after a couple of wears or a seam starts to come apart and you don’t dare bend over. That’s why we didn’t mess about and headed straight to a Portuguese workshop for the good stuff. Reinforced stitching in all the key areas, precise seams, flawless finishing—every detail is scrutinised. The result? A pair of shorts that keep their shape, hold up beautifully, and still have plenty left in the tank after many a summer.
The finishing touches: no cutting corners
The difference between an average pair of shorts and ours? Much of it is in the little touches. The bits you might not clock straight away but will definitely appreciate over time. The Italian pockets? Angled just right to glide your hands in and deep enough to keep your phone put. A cotton pocket lining that won’t fray on first contact with a set of rental car keys. And don’t forget our imitation horn buttons.
Dyeing: artisan-level craftsmanship
Our Shorts are yarn-dyed in Italy, meaning the threads are dyed before the fabric is even woven. Unlike standard dyeing, which only colours the surface, this method fully saturates the yarn so the colour stays put, wash after wash, keeping fading or bleeding to an absolute minimum. The result? Rich, deep tones with more character, more intensity, and best of all—long-lasting vibrancy.
The cut: fitted, not clingy
Neither thigh-squeezingly slim nor billowingly baggy—our cut is designed for the perfect fit. We spent months tweaking each millimetre. It’s tailored enough for a clean, polished look, relaxed enough for all-day comfort. That’s what we call a smart cut.
The right proportions
The length of these Classic Shorts is also a labour of love. We tested, refined, and tested again. And the result? Just above the knee. Not ‘80s-short, not drowning in fabric, but a universally flattering length that works just as well for city strolls as it does on a beach day. Whether you’re 1.70m (5’7”) or 1.90m (6’3”), this cut’s got you covered.
100% traceable
We can trace our shorts from start to finish, just like every item we make. This is something we work hard at, it’s far from the norm for the fashion industry. The organic cotton is sourced from Turkey and Italy (depending on the colour) and spun with care to the highest standards. Weaving and dyeing are handled in Italy by certified partners, ensuring no nasty chemicals sneak in. And final production? That’s in Portugal, at Expotime—masters of their craft. Each step is made in full transparency, each partner chosen for their expertise. And that’s what makes these shorts worth it.
