You’ve just enlisted the services of the most casual of trousers! Great choice. Now, for how to look after it.
These tips will keep your trousers looking their best for years to come.
Alterations
Length, weight, build, leg length, hip width: these variables vary greatly from one earth dweller to another. And because we're in the ready-to-wear business, we work to standards that suit as many people as possible.
So if your trousers don't fit perfectly when you first try them on, you might be in for some alterations. Most alteration experts will be able to make these final adjustments easy peasy. For example:
- The length of the legs: An Italian turn-up or a simple, elegant hem: your alteration specialist will do it for you in no time at all, for around 15 €.
- You can also have the waist of your Slack trousers altered if you think they're a little too loose or tight. Obviously, you won't be able to go up or down three sizes, but a little alteration can make all the difference. Expect to pay around 20€.
Daily care
The longevity of your Slack Pants depends on how much you use them and how well you care for them. The golden rule here is to put them on a hanger when you’re not wearing them.
If you stain them, it's best to act quickly: some warm water and a little natural soap should deal with most spillages if you act fast enough.
Cleaning
There are two options here: dry cleaning and machine washing.
If you've bought the matching Slack Jacket, we recommend dry cleaning, taking the whole suit with you each time. This will allow the colour of both items to evolve homogeneously over time and not end up being mismatched.
On the other hand, if you've gone for the trousers on their own, you can stick them in the washing machine on a delicate 30°C cycle at 400 rpm tops. This will avoid damaging them in the wash.
Next step: Air dry and only air dry. Hang them by their legs away from direct sunlight and the creases will (mostly) fall out of them.
FYI, OUR SLACK TROUSERS AND THE PLANET
Since 1 January 2024, the New French environmental legislation known as The AGEC Law stipulates transparency from our lot in the fashion industry so that you can make an informed purchase. As you can imagine, this is something that we fully support at Asphalte. So here's some additional information about our Slack Trousers:
- They’re 100% recyclable after being dismantled, which means that the day their services are no longer required every component can be fully recycled. If you stop wearing them for whatever reason, you might want to consider making someone else happy by passing them on to a friend, family member or donating them to a charity. The best way of reducing an item of clothing’s impact is by keeping it in circulation, and only recycling it when there really is no life or use left in it.
- No microplastics are released during washing. Unlike many garments, our Slack Trousers have been designed to not release any microplastics. Plastic microfibres are tiny particles of plastic that are released when worn or washed and have a negative impact on aquatic and land ecosystems.
- They do not contain any hazardous materials. They’re manufactured in compliance with strict standards aimed at eliminating the use of harmful substances and other chemical nasties.
- They do not contain any recycled materials. We try to incorporate recycled materials whenever we can, unfortunately, it hasn’t been possible to do so with the Slack Trousers.
We wish you all the best
The fate of your Slack Trousers is now in your hands, and if you follow these few guidelines, they should look good by your side for many years to come.
